We work with support/advisory services, schools, resource bases, teachers of the deaf, mainstream teachers, and teaching assistants to develop and extend good practice. Our input is negotiated on an individual basis to meet specific areas of need for individuals or groups and may be undertaken in collaboration with our Technicians.
The Ewing Foundation Consultants are all qualified, experienced Teachers of the Deaf and have additional qualifications and experience in educational audiology, early years provision, Ofsted inspection and transition issues.

ACE (Assessment of Comprehension and Expression) training
A brief introduction was given to teachers of the deaf working in units. This generated a lot of interest so its use was demonstrated with a pupil within one of the units.As a result, the teacher borrowed the test to become familiar with it herself. She then used it, with support from a Ewing Consultant, for both administration and scoring. Finally, she completed it with another pupil on her own. She is now seeking to purchase ACE so that it can be incorporated into a regular routine of assessment. A critical part of the support is to reflect jointly on the implications for each pupil’s learning needs and consider appropriate targets and suitable strategies to support learning in the classroom.
