Monday 1 – Sunday 7 May marked Deaf Awareness Week, the annual campaign to highlight the experiences of deaf people.
To mark this year’s Deaf Awareness Week, we launched a range of training sessions for deaf education professionals.
Our bespoke and specialist training is offered by our new team of Education Advisors, who are all experienced Qualified Teachers of the Deaf (QToDs). The sessions are designed to upskill QToDs and others working in the field of deaf education in order to improve outcomes for deaf babies, children and young people.
Our training sessions include:
- Language assessment and target setting
- Evaluation of listening measures – using speech tests to validate electroacoustic measures
- Linking listening to language
- Using the PLS-5 and CELF-5 to assess the language of deaf children and young people
- Learning through play in the early years
