Take part in research at the University of Birmingham

Researchers at the University of Birmingham are seeking participants for their study: Evidencing good practice to support deaf autistic children in education.

The study, which is funded by the British Academy, seeks to identify effective practice in supporting the inclusion of deaf autistic children* aged 4-11 years in the United Kingdom.

More specifically, the study aims:

• to explore the views of educational professionals and parents of deaf autistic children on the constituents of good practice in education settings, and

• to identify and critically analyse the range of practices employed in education settings.

* Please note that condition first language has been used by the study’s researchers as this seems to be the preference of many autistic individuals. The researchers acknowledge that this is not the preference of all autistic people. The term deaf is used to refer to children with any degree and type of hearing loss in accordance to the definition provided by the National Deaf Children’s Society.
